At the beginning of this school year we looked for an engineering project. Künz, a company in Hard, gave us a task to develop a trash rake cleaning machine. This machine should clean the entrance of a hydropower station. A special feature of this machine should be that this machine could drive 30m on a dam wall. At first we looked for some different solutions for this problem. After three weeks we showed Künz four solutions. After evaluating these solutions we decided to design a machine with a telescope extension arm. This is the best solution because it is very cheap, easy to handle, and easy to produce.
Now we prepare for our speech, in which we present the latest situation.
In the second semester we have to construct the details of the machine and we have to check the safety by calculating the critical parts. I think its a very good way to complete the Matura with this project. In this way I want to thank Künz for supporting us and Mr. Lindner for giving us useful advice.
